So you're interested in helping us out? Or doing something worthwhile towards your pet cause? Whether you're interested in the environmental aspects of what we do, creatively helping solve the digital divide, are looking for a regular volunteer gig, or a temporary one, there's always lots to do in a startup organization.
Besides our Computer Adoption and Build programs, which are more temporary gigs in exchange for a computer, and Core Volunteers who can take on one or more 3-hour shifts a week, you may be interested in finding out about our work-doing groups of like-minded people. Here are just five of the things that are ongoing projects designed to make us fully operational:
Those with interest in Recycling and Reuse-First! will be starting up a new workgroup, so if learning about e-waste and ethical recycling is of interest, this is probably a good choice.
We also have some great scroungers who look for RAM, good hard drives, DVD drives, dsl modems, networking equipment, building supplies, office and shop furniture that we can rescue from the landfills. The stuff we're in need of are in the "What We Reuse" page.
And, of course, there's all the Linux geeks out there, whom we *hope* can find some time to donate, and/or get more experience administering, coding, or training others in a production environment. If you'd like to start up the Asterisk project, or any of the other technical projects, we'd love to hear from you. People able to provide Ubuntu tech support shifts will be be very much needed, and that's something that may be achievable from home.
Just tell us what you'd like to do, and we'll probably be able to meet your interests!
