History of Free Geek Toronto | Celebrating 15 Years

It's hard to believe that Free Geek Toronto's been around for fifteen years. Starting out in a westend church's basement, our first permenant home was in the Junction neighbourhood before moving to our current location in 2015. There have been many changes over the years, but our little tech reuse organization is in a good place now. We have survived and thrived in challenging situations, including a global pandemic!

What have we done?

  • Refurbished nearly 3,000 computers
  • Sent roughly 265,167 kg (584,593 lbs.) of unusable tech to be ethically recycled in Ontario
  • Over 400 volunteers have helped increase digital inclusion through their participation in FGT's operations
  • Trained over 70 workplace participants (people looking to increase their digital hardware skills)

These are the highlights which don't cover everything we've done.

We're proud of the difference we've made. We're still a small non-profit trying to make a difference. Thank you to everyone who has and continues to support us. We couldn't do it without you!
