Free Geek Toronto focuses on involving our volunteers in meaningful work that lets them grow their own skills and knowledge while helping us keep technology accessible.
Volunteers help with many aspects of our operations, including marketing and communication, acting as ambassadors for our mission, sorting through the tech donations for usable items, and running workshops.
There’s more to being a volunteer at Free Geek Toronto than simply refurbishing computers!

Free Geek Toronto offers employment and volunteer opportunities to build-skills around computer hardware and open-source software. People get hands-on experience working directly with hardware, building troubleshooting skills, and technical knowledge. Our employment opportunities emphasize people who face barriers to access. From time to time we also run workshops for libraries, community groups, and other non-profits
For teams that meet virtually, we ask you be available for 1 meeting per month. For in-person sessions, be available once every 2 months (more is welcome). You can do more and even volunteer in multiple ways, whatever you have time for.
The first step to volunteering at Free Geek Toronto is to register and attend one of our virtual Volunteer Information Sessions. They usually occur once a month (except for July and December).
Please note that to volunteer at Free Geek Toronto you have to be over the age of 18.
