Your Interactive Guide to Installing Linux Mint
This guide transforms the standard installation steps into an interactive experience, making it easier than ever to get started with a fast, secure, and user-friendly operating system.
Phase 1Before You Start
Why Choose Mint?
Linux Mint is a fantastic choice for beginners coming from other operating systems. It is built to be intuitive and powerful right out of the box.
Prerequisites Checklist
Ensure your system and materials meet these recommendations for a smooth installation. The most important step is backing up your files!
CRUCIAL: Back up all important files to an external drive before you begin!
Phase 2Create Your Installer
This phase covers getting the Linux Mint installation file (called an ISO) and correctly preparing your USB drive. This bootable USB drive will be used to install the operating system on your computer.
Download Linux Mint 22
- Visit the official Linux Mint Website.
- Choose an edition (see chart for comparison).
- Select a download mirror close to you for faster speed.
- Download the `.iso` file to your computer.
Create a Bootable USB
You'll need to use a tool to write the downloaded ISO file to your USB drive. We recommend Balena Etcher because it's safe and easy to use.
- Download Balena Etcher for your current OS.
- Open Etcher.
- Click "Flash from file" and select your downloaded Mint ISO.
- Click "Select target" and choose your USB drive. (Double-check this!)
- Click "Flash!" and wait for it to complete.
