Whenever possible, Free Geek Toronto provides no-cost computer hardware to non-profit and social change organizations, including youth-led enterprises, in the Greater Toronto Area on a limited basis. Our inventory of no-cost hardware is dependent on what is donated to us. Desktop computers, flat-screen monitors, and certain other peripherals are often available. Less common donations such as laptops, tablets, smartphones, and higher-end computers and components are typically not available within this program. All Hardware Grant computers have the Linux Mint operating system installed.
Typical requests we fulfill are for one or two computers at a time.
***Program rules***
We love helping out the great organizations in this city. We do have some rules, so please read these before applying.
1. You must be able to pick up the hardware in person from our Toronto office. Grants are provided unboxed. We don't ship technology to grantees, and we only grant to organizations in the Greater Toronto Area.
2. You must dispose of the hardware responsibly when it reaches end of life, like donating it back to Free Geek Toronto.
3. We ask recipients to help raise awareness about the program by posting about their grant on their newsletter and social media.
4. Organizations may reapply 6 months after their last application.
To request a hardware grant, please contact us by filling out our request form below. Qualified or potentially qualified organizations will be contacted for a follow-up. A valid phone number and email are required.
